Avalanche NextGen is a suite of bioinformatics programs that allows biologists to automate the data mining process.

Reasoning

Data mining tools are plenty but all of them are only available for Linux. Also none of them have graphic interface nor are easy to configure and use.

With Avalanche NextGen we wanted

• to fill the gap for Windows/Mac users
• to help the biologists concentrate on their real work instead of wasting time poking obscure commands in a console.

Tools included

The following tools are also included in Avalanche NextGen package:

• NCBI Blast Installer
  A tool that automatically downloads and installs the latest version of NCBI Blast+ program in your computer
• NCBI Database downloader
  A tool that automatically downloads the desired Blast databases from NCBI server and keeps them up to date
• Database builder
  A tool that allows you to create your own Blast databases
• NextGen Sequence Workbench
  The fastest FastQ/SFF file viewer, convertor AND editor and converter on the market. The program is able to open any FastQ/SFF file no matter how big.
• Sequence Dereplicator
  A fast and easy to use sequence dereplicator based on CD-Hit
• Blast Robot
  A tool that automates the NCBI BLAST search processes
