DNA Sequence Assembler Installation troubleshooting
If you cannot install the program, please try the suggestions below in the specified order:
Redownload the program
Rarely may it happen that the setup file gets corrupted during download. If this is the case, you will get a message that will suggest that. Re-download the program. If you are using Internet Explorer it may be necessary to reset your browser cache.
Don't install it in "Program Files"
Don't install DNA Sequence Assembler in “Program Files” or other read-only folder IF you don’t have administrator rights.
Is your antivirus the culprit?
It is known that some security programs may be overzealous and interfere with legit programs, especially during installation. Temporary disable your antivirus/firewall software and try to reinstall DNA Baser. Some antivirus programs do not allow you to disable them. In this case, the best you can do is to answer "allow" to all questions and pop-ups the antivirus may display while DNA Baser is installing.
Run it as admin
Windows Vista/7 may be extremely restrictive when about installing new software. Try to run the setup in privileged mode (elevated/administrator). See this page if Windows Vista/7 says "This program might not have installed correctly. If this program didn't install correctly, try reinstalling...".
Try in a different computer
Do you have access to a different computer? You have a personal laptop? Can your colleague allow you to use his/her computer?
Is this an installation problem?
Please make sure that the problem you are having is indeed an installation issue. If the program cannot be installed and you have never see it running, then yes, it may be an installation problem. If the program installed and you have seen it run it (even for a single second) but it crashes, then it may not be an installation issue. In this later case, please let us know.
Unicode (Japanese, Chinese, Russian, etc) problems with DNA Baser v2
If you are running DNA Baser v2 under a limited user account and you are using UNICODE characters, please see "Problems on systems using UNICODE characters under non-administrator accounts"
