DNA Baser Network Edition
Troubleshooting

DNA Sequence Assembly - Network Edition

KEY-RELATED PROBLEMS

The registration process is simple and it should take less than 5 minutes. If you have problems probably you have skipped some steps from our documentation. Do not despair; just follow the instructions you will fix the problem by yourself without having to contact us.

The program cannot be registered (key is not accepted)

Usually when our customers have problems registering the program it is because (in this order):

  • They submitted the ID of one of the client computers instead of master's ID.
  • They installed the Standard (single user) edition instead of Network edition.
  • They didn't use the "Registermaster.cmd" script to get master's ID and to enter the key. (applies to DNA Baser v2 only)

Troubleshooting answers

You must be able to answer YES to the questions below (the order is relevant):

  1. Did you download the proper edition (Network edition) of DNA Baser from our web site?
  2. Did you use the "RegisterMaster" command to get the ID of your master? (applies to DNA Baser v2 only)
  3. The Computer ID you sent to us is the ID of your master and not the ID of your client computer(s)?
  4. Did you use the "RegisterMaster" command to enter the key? (applies to DNA Baser v2 only)
  5. Did you enter the key correctly? Please check the "My key is not working" paragraph.

CONNECTION-RELATED PROBLEMS

If you fail to setup your network you may want to contact your network administrator to help you. Show this page to the network administrator. Most network administrators have excellent IT skills and these instructions are not complicated to them.

The key was accepted but the clients cannot connect to master

  1. Did you start the master using the "StartAsMaster" command?
  2. The client computer(s) and the master are in the same LAN network (they use the same IP range like 192.168.0.xxx)?
  3. Your firewall is blocking UPD broadcasts?
  4. Did you download the latest version of DNA Baser from our web site?
  5. Are you using the same version (the Network version) for both master and client(s)?
  6. Did you check your firewall/antivirus settings?
